Red-breasted Parakeet – Golden Hour #1

Golden hour in photography refer to the daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset , during which the daylight is redder and softer.

Went to Hampstead Wetlands Park during the golden hour at the evening time spotted the beautiful Red-breasted Parakeet (绯胸鹦鹉) . According to The International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species (IUCN) , red-breasted parakeet is belongs to “Near Threatened” category. Meaning, it’s close to qualifying for or is likely to qualify for a “Threatened” category in the near future.

The golden hour created the incredible lighting on the parakeet and certainly allow me to gain some unique experience with the vivid lighting environment.

I hope these photos can provide a different angle for all of us to think deeper and reflect ourselves about the urgency to preserve the precious wildlife we have around us.

I decided to split the sharing to 2 parts , one focus on the “still” image where the parakeet is resting and the other sharing will be focused on the “take off/ landing” image, which is my favourite BIF!

Stay tuned.

My gears:

  • Olympus E-M1 Mark III
  • Olympus M.Zuiko 100-400mm f5.0-6.3
  • EE-1 Dot Sight

Hope you like this lovely parakeet too! 🙂
